Solutia Inc. recently announced that it has reached agreement with GOM Industries Ltd, India to establish a joint venture to service the coatings performance materials and service needs of the industrial coatings manufacturers in the Indian sub-continent.
The joint venture company, to be known as Solutia GOM India Coatings Materials Private Limited, will be headquartered in Mumbai, India. Solutia's partner, GOM Industries Ltd, India, is a leading manufacturer of resins for India's paint and coatings industries.
Nimesh Patel, joint managing director, GOM Industries, who will be also a board member of the new company, is confident that "There will be a substantial increased demand for higher quality coatings raw materials in India for decades to come. The tie-up with Solutia will bring in products which are technologically superior to those currently available in India."
Len Remaly, Solutia's international sales director and also a board member of the new company, says, "We expect the Asia Pacific region to lead the growth in the world coatings market over the next decade, and I believe that India is going to make a substantial contribution to that growth."
Solutia markets its coatings performance materials products worldwide under the Resimene, Modaflow, Santosol, Modacure, Multiflow and Butvar tradenames. Gwalsol is a trademark of GOM Industries Ltd.
