Glasgow City Council Land Services has chosen Winn & Coales' Denso Steelcoat 700 System to give long-term protection to steel parapets above and alongside two road underpasses in the north of the City. The previous paint coating system had deteriorated and Glasgow City Council was looking for a replacement coating that was easy to apply in Glasgow's adverse winter weather conditions, did not require shotblasting beforehand, and would give long-life protection.

The Land Services department contacted Winn & Coales to obtain a specification that would meet their requirements, and Denso Steelcoat 700 was recommended.

The contractors for both projects were J.S. Harvie & Co. After mechanical wire brushing the steel parapets, they applied two coats of Denso S.T. Epoxy, a two-component glass flake reinforced epoxy mastic coating, which forms the basis of the Denso Steelcoat 700 System.

When exposed to sunlight a third coat of urethane based material (Denso Weathershield) is applied for extra protection, particularly to prevent chalking.
