In GB Patent 2340 495 NTT Advanced Technology Corporation describes a water-repellent coating. It has a tetrafluoroethylene resin powder, a silicon resin bonder and an organic solvent. The tetrafluoroethylene resin powder has a peak absorbance of an infra-red absorption spectrum approximately at 1,800cm, which reflects the presence of a carbonyl group as a terminal group and an absorbance approximately at 500cm-1 which reflects C-F bond. A ratio absorbance at 1,800cm-1 to the peak absorbance at 500cm-1 is less than 0.05. A coating film is formed by applying such a coating on a substrate. Thus, the coating has the properties of high water repellence, excellent anti-ice-coating, excellent anti-snow-coating, and so on, in spite of having a large amount of fluororesin powder. In addition, the coating film maintains the water repellency regardless of whether the coating film is immersed in water for a long time.
