The latest "Ventus® 200P" pressure-fed cabinet blasting machine; manufactured by USF Vacu-Blast International, has been designed to bridge the gap between the larger end of standard blast cabinet ranges and much bigger, space-consuming and more expensive blastrooms.

The Ventus 200P (Plate 3) has a 2m x 2m x 2m processing enclosure and can accommodate large fabrications and assemblies as well as smaller components. It claims versatility for production situations where there is wide size variation of manufactured items – in stainless steel fabrication, for example – or where there is insufficient space available for a full-size blastroom.

Typical applications for the Ventus 200P include descaling, rust removal, paint stripping, preparation for painting, weld preparation and cleaning, and cosmetic finishing such as stainless steel "satinising" with glass beads.

Described as a robustly built and powerful machine, the Ventus 200P claims a high output, and can use all types of blast media, including plastics and organic materials. It incorporates an integral high-efficiency media recovery and separation system which automatically recycles reusable media to the blast nozzle, thereby maximising media usage. An advanced reverse-jet dust collector is said to minimise dust emissions and reduces noise levels.

The machine has a generous access door designed to eliminate media spillage, plus a large viewing window and high internal illumination to maximise process visibility.

Manual operation can be via one or more external operator positions, depending on individual requirements, using conventional rubber gauntlets. Automatically operated variants are also available featuring multi-nozzle, multi-axis manipulation for precision surface treatment applications – including shot peening. Other available options include a powered turntable to facilitate component handling and orientation, an external roll-in component track and an overhead gantry/electric hoist unit to assist with loading/unloading.
