Keywords: Pipelines, Cathodic protection, Surveys

Corrintec have commenced their longest ever subsea pipeline cathodic protection survey programme in the Gulf of Mexico.

The survey, commissioned by PEMEX and operated by Oceanografia, will cover a total of 4,620 km over a period of 4½ years concentrating on pipelines within the South West sector of the Bay of Campeche.

Corrintec will be surveying trunk lines running from the Rebombeo Field to Dos Bocas of approximately 300 km in length, plus more than 300 km of in-field survey work. They will also be surveying three lines running from the shore to vessel mooring buoys amounting to 60 km.

Therefore, each complete survey will cover 660 km and during the next 4½ years all of the lines will be surveyed seven times.

The surveys are carried out on a 24 h basis with Oceanografia supplying the “second man” who has received training from Corrintec in the use of the survey system. All of the surveys will be carried out using ROV mounted equipment, except for sections of the trunk pipelines within 5 km of the shore which are surveyed using the “trailing wire” technique.
