Zinc College goes to China

The International Zinc Association’s highly regarded executive training programme Zinc College 2002 was recently held in Changsha, China.

The programme was held at the Central South University (CSU) in Changsha which is the capital of Hunan Province. CSU is a national key comprehensive university with a renowned engineering faculty. Zinc College 2002 was also supported by China Non- Ferrous Metallurgy Association, Zhuzhou Smelter Group Company, Delft University of Technology and Colorado School of Mines.

Zinc College 2002 took a broad international outlook and aimed at a large participation from Chinese and international zinc industry executives. Dr Edouard Gervais, executive director IZA said, “We were delighted to bring Zinc College to China and to further develop our partnership with the Chinese zinc industry. It was also another excellent opportunity for current and future industry leaders to gain a truly global perspective on our industry.”

The lectures were complemented by case studies, working groups, panel discussions and a visit to Zhuzhou Smelter Group Company Ltd. Participants from outside China were able to visit other zinc production sites in China before and after Zinc College.
