EGGA President Eberhard Hoffmann stood down in June after a busy and successful 3 years. He was busy because the industry faced many issues during his period in office, and successful because EGGA financed an extensive research programme to support the risk assessment for zinc, established itself as a real presence at the political level in Brussels and held Intergalva 2000 in Berlin. Eberhard Hoffmann continues in the Board as a Vice-President and member of the President's Group.
Rik van Thiel, former Vice-President, was elected President and Chairman of the Board in his place. His first task is to continue the momentum behind EGGA's work on risk assessment and at the political level. He also looks forward to Intergalva 2003 this year.
Other changes in the Board were: Otilio Garcia (Spain) retired from the Board and from his business, and was replaced by Manuel Salvadores; Stephen Rankin (UK) retired because of rotation of the UK delegates and was replaced by Robert Evans; Antonio Brandao (Portugal) was appointed to the Board.
