Yamaha Motorcycles in Brazil Names Du Pont Coatings Supplier of the Year

Du Pont has been selected as the 2008 Supplier of the Year by Yamaha Motors do Brazil, a subsidiary of Yamaha Motors Corporation. Du Pont is the exclusive coatings supplier to Yamaha, which built 340,000 motorcycles in 2008 at its Manaus manufacturing site.
“In today’s economic climate, competition for sales is particularly intense, so we are pleased to help Yamaha deliver quality consumer products and succeed in a difficult market,” said Antonio Carlos Oliveira, director of Du Pont OEM Coatings for Latin America. “We supply coatings to virtually every major automobile manufacturer in the world as well as makers of other types of vehicles, such as motorcycles.”
“For more than 30 years, Du Pont has contributed to Yamaha’s growth by consistently achieving our quality, cost and delivery standards,” said Tamotsu Teramoto, purchasing manager of Yamaha Motors do Brazil.
Yamaha employs some 4,700 workers at the Manaus site and has been supplying motorcycles to the Brazilian market since 1970.
