Imaging and document management specialist, Rasterex has introduced a new 32-bit version of its successful viewing and redlining product RxHighlight. This product allows users to view, comment and print drawings, scanned images, and documents without needing access to the software they were created in, and without worrying about unauthorised editing.
RxHighlight already supports a wide variety of formats, ranging from AutoCAD DWG, Microstation DGN, and Computervision DRW CALS compatible scanned drawings to popular image formats like TIFF, GIF, TGA and industry standard office formats like Microsoft Word and Excel, WordPerfect, and Lotus. Also viewable are transfer formats like DXF, plot files like HPGL, HPGL2, Calcomp, and many emerging standards. The new release RxHighlight 97 supports additional formats, such as R14 DWG, HTML, CGM, and CadKey.
RxHighlight 97 is a fully compliant 32-bit Windows application, including support for long file names and a Windows 95 look and feel. It claims faster loading than the previous version, together with better manipulation of hybrid files. In addition, RxHighlight 97 is Internet-ready it supports HTML files and opens URLs with fully active links. A useful feature is Print Preview allowing full or partial prints, scaled or fitting a particular paper size.
RxHighlight 97 also claims fast and easy zoom and pan features using a bird's eye, and allows users to manipulate and compare files with File Overlay and File Compare functions. An easy-to-use network tool governs access control through user profiles, building levels of security for your network. Integrated DDE commands enable RxHighlight to be linked and controlled from other applications (such as RxIndex).
Rasterex reports that in addition to all of these features, RxHighlight allows users to create multi-layer redlining and commenting without altering the original files. This means that different users working on the same drawings can communicate change requests, revision notes, and reference comments, all with a comprehensive toolbox. With document hyperlinking, a completely separate document can be embedded to become a permanently linked record helping users to keep track of and jump to drawing revisions or component drawings easily.
