Non-toxic, environmentally friendly paint stripper removes all paint systems

Aviation product specialists Cee-Bee have launched a new, non-toxic, paint stripper suitable for removing polyurethane and other aircraft paint systems.

Designated E-2012, the new stripper is one of Cee-Bee's range of environmentally-friendly speciality products. It is manufactured by McGean-Rohco and conforms to McDonnell-Douglas CSD-1 specifications. The stripper reportedly contains no halogenated solvents, phenol, heavy metals or other toxic materials, while the final surfactants are biodegradable.

Cee-Bee E-2012 stripper is an opaque, thixotropic paint which clings to vertical, inclined or overhead surfaces. Recommended application is via high pressure 10:1 or 5:1 air-activated pump using a spray wand fitted with a fantype spray nozzle. Optimum performance is reached by using the correct combination of nozzle, temperature and pressure to ensure a light even coat to the paint surface.

Because of the slow drying time E-2012 can begin stripping the paint surface within the hour, but can be left overnight for a longer reaction time or reapplied where flakes of paint remain. The loosened paint can be removed by brushing and the surface rinsed thoroughly with water under high pressure.

It is believed that its components make E-2012 suitable for all aircraft structural metals including high strength steel. Polyurethane, epoxy or other paints can be removed quickly and thoroughly.
