FLS and BA reaffirm relationship

FLS and BA reaffirm relationship

FLS Aerospace has signed a revised agreement with British Airways that significantly enhances and refocuses their existing contract for aircraft maintenance and component services. FLS Aerospace has undertaken substantial maintenance programmes for British Airways since 1991.

The revised contract involves a multi-million package with British Airways, and under the following new features:

  • FLS Aerospace will provide all heavy maintenance for four years and materials support for five years on the British Airways fleet of ten Airbus A320 aircraft.

  • FLS Aerospace will provide all heavy maintenance on the British Airways fleet of seven McDonnell Douglas DC10-30 aircraft, until their retirement.

  • FLS Aerospace will re-paint the British Airways narrow-body fleet, with the new Utopia paint schemes. This work will take two years.

  • FLS Aerospace and British Airways will exchange operational hangars at London Gatwick Airport.

  • FLS Aerospace is continued as a strategic supplier to British Airways.

The British Airways DC10 and A320 fleets are currently of a size that does not provide scale benefits in maintenance. This agreement will enable FLS Aerospace to bring these economies of scale, proven experience and expertise to the support of both fleets. FLS Aerospace has been able to assure British Airways of the highest levels of service.

As a crucial element of their growth strategy at London Gatwick Airport, and as part of this new agreement, British Airways has already begun to substantially increase the operational use of the wide-body aircraft maintenance hangar leased from FLS Aerospace under an earlier agreement. FLS Aerospace has already taken over a British Airways hangar at London Gatwick Airport. Using this facility FLS Aerospace continues to service Continental Airlines' fleet of DC10s, on behalf of British Airways. FLS Aerospace also has additional capacity for new business.

Go choose FLS

FLS announce that Go has signed a five-year contract with FLS Aerospace for total aircraft maintenance support of its growing fleet of Boeing 737s.

Under this landmark agreement FLS Aerospace is appointed as a sole contractor for maintenance services to Go, and will be responsible for providing a cost-effective "total maintenance" solution to Go. This is fully in line with the FLS Aerospace strategy objective, to enhance its position as Europe's leading prime maintenance organisation (PMO), through innovative, full support agreements with partner airlines.

The contract covers:

  • all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance;

  • total component management and support;

  • full technical services, including the maintenance control function, together with the provision of ramp turn-round maintenance; and

  • the management of all engine maintenance and overhaul services.

FLS to support AB Airlines' B737s

We are also informed that FLS Aerospace and AB Airlines have signed an important new long-term maintenance support contract. Initially covering the total support of two Boeing 737-300 aircraft, the contract includes options for the support of six Boeing 737-700 aircraft, which AB Airlines will introduce in January 2001. The contract is estimated to be worth in the order of £10 million over its six-year term.

AB Airlines will be operating the two B737-300s on their scheduled European routes from London Gatwick to Berlin-Schoenfeld, Lisbon, and Shannon.
