In world patent 9505 308 R.C. Madsen describes an infrared de-icing method for aircraft positioned on taxiway. The method involves activating infrared sources located on the interior of the shelter, through which the aircraft passes, to heat a part of the outer surface of the aircraft body. The external surface is heated to a temperature sufficient to remove the ice at an energy level allowing de-icing within 15 minutes. The temperature is maintained to prevent reicing. The method minimises delay between de-icing and takeoff to avoid re-icing without use of freezing point depressant.
