AutoLogic Systems Ltd is delighted to announce that AutoMod has been chosen to support a US Government Industry consortium's Composite Affordability Initiative (CAI) Program.

The consortium is composed of all the key US aerospace and defence players, namely, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, the US Airforce and the US Navy. The CAI program's overall objective is to reduce dramatically the cost of aerospace composite structures and AutoMod was selected as the software best fitted to provide the 3D simulation element of the program's support systems.

The scope of the CAI program encompasses simulating composite part fabrication and assembly operations for composite structures. AutoMod will simulate the material handling process flow and assembly operations and will provide:

  • The ability to estimate tooling requirements based on process, rate and production run.

  • Support for activity-based costing.

  • The power of a predictive tool capable of offering rapid feedback.

  • Justification for capital equipment and tooling expenses.

  • A tool to evaluate various design and manufacturing scenarios.

  • A forecast of the project capacity, manpower, facility and capital equipment requirements.

  • A statistical summary at any level of the project, assembly, part, or process and display the data graphically.
