Mektron Systems Limited has introduced a range of transportable electronic enclosures and transit cases which have been designed specifically to protect valuable equipment from the hazards encountered during transportation and the demands of harsh environments (Plate 9).

This versatile range has been introduced as a direct result of the company's extensive electronic packaging experience gained through the involvement in major defence programmes scoping fixed/rotary wing avionics, seagoing and land mobile applications. These lightweight composite construction enclosures and cases can be supplied as stand-alone products or as part of an integrated packaging solution.

The company offers a broad line of standard transit cases, containers, and 19in. rack mount enclosures, including EMI/RFI shielded products, and has the ability to produce virtually any custom application.

These products are manufactured for Mektron Systems by CMN Composites using conductive thermoplastic materials, thermo-stamped composites (TSC), thermoformed plastics and sheet moulding compounds. Compression moulded composite parts utilise innovative glass fibre, conductive fibre and graphite fibre reinforced materials which are moulded in creatively designed tooling.

This range of enclosures and cases can accommodate a wide variety of electronic solutions and incorporates excellent survivability and longevity with built in resistant to projectile impact. Almost any size or configuration of container or enclosure can be fabricated. The units are hermetically sealed and have full MIL-Spec test history and are available as standard or custom models, with or without EMI/RFI shielding.
