Cargo system power drive units

Keywords Lucas, Power drive units

Lucas Aerospace has been selected by Delta Airlines, Atlanta, Georgia, as its exclusive supplier of cargo system power drive units (PDUs) for all future Delta purchases of B767 and B777 aircraft. While the agreement covers all power drive units, Delta Airlines intends to use Lucas Aerospace's new 3-inch PDU, making Delta the launch customer for the new product. The new 43100-10 series PDU is designed to be "universal", allowing lower deck commonality on Boeing B777s and B767s, and with minor modifications on B747s and Airbus A330s and A340s. The contract is for ten years over which time Delta Airlines expects to order more than 60 aircraft which will result in more than 3,600 PDUs supplied. The contract value is undisclosed.

Under a long-term contract with Boeing, Lucas Aerospace is the original equipment manufacturer of lower deck cargo handling systems for Boeing's 747, 767, 777 and MD-11 aircraft, and main deck cargo handling systems for Boeing 747 and 767 aircraft. This agreement ensures that any aircraft ordered by Delta Airlines will contain Lucas Aerospace PDUs exclusively.
