New concept Centaur amphibian

Keywords: Warrior, Aircraft

Warrior (Aero-Marine), the Lymington, UK-based company that is developing the Centaur six-seat light amphibious aircraft, is in discussions with a number of potential international investors to launch the aircraft into full scale development.

Unveiled at the 1998 Farnborough International Air Show, Centaur is a radical amphibious aircraft with a new hull design that claims to dramatically out-function any comparable seaplane whilst bringing costs per seat mile down by typically 35 per cent.

An extensive programme has already been carried out through trialling of hulls and dynamically representative scale models.

According to Warrior, Centaur's new level of performance and its ability to work safely in common coastal wave conditions have been augmented by a de Havilland-style wing-fold which will allow the aircraft to access about five times as many coastal facilities as any other current or prospective seaplane.
