Raychem Corporation is offering a brochure that features a range of Raychem harness components designed to perform reliably in the harsh environment of space. The colour brochure, entitled Solutions for a New Era in Satellites and Space Vehicles, highlights Raychem data bus systems, splicing and terminating devices, heat-shrinkable tubing, moulded parts, marking systems, and rugged wires and cables which meet the demanding weight and performance requirements of space applications.

Weight is a great determinant of cost in today's space vehicles. Recognising this, Raychem has used its materials science expertise to design smaller and lighter-weight harness products with the reliability and durability necessary for long-term space applications. In addition to withstanding exposure to radiation, atomic oxygen, and extreme temperature variations, the Raychem products meet Nassau's tough outgassing and volatility requirements (SP-R-0022).

Temperature ratings range from as low as --85úC to as high as 200úC, depending on the product.

"The space industry requires lighter weight components which must be extremely tough and dependable", says Bill Flaherty, aerospace marketing manager for North America. "These components have been specially designed to last for decades, while also meeting today's more stringent cost and performance requirements."
