Human Factors in Multi-crew Flight Operations

Harry W. Orlady and Linda M. Orlady

Keywords Publication, Flight safety, Aircraft

With the pace of ongoing technological and teamwork evolution across air transport, there has never been a greater need to master the application and effective implementation of leading edge human factors knowledge. Human'Factors in Multi-crew Flight Operations is a book that in my opinion does just that.

Readers of this book will appreciate the fact that it is written from the perspective of the well-informed pilot. The pages provide a vivid, practical context for the appreciation of human factors, pitched at a level for those engaged in current air transport operations.

The book maps the evolution, growth and future expansion of human factors in aviation, it will I am sure be the text for pilots. It will also provide an essential resource for aerospace engineers by providing an insight into the human factors involved in aerospace safety.

Harry Orlady is a retired pilot and is now a consultant specialising in air transport safety, aviation human factors, and air transport certification. Linda Orlady is a pilot with United Airlines, flying the B747-400. Previously she was an instructor at Ohio State University, a NASA sponsored researcher for Harvard University and CRM manager for United Airlines.
