Weighing system for aircraft

Aircraft not only have to be weighed when registered. They also have to be weighed following every mounting or dismounting of equipment and instruments, and following large repairs. The rule is always that the empty weight must be determined as precisely as possible, since the maximum permissible additional load and the distribution of the load are calculated with reference to this value.

Heggemann Aerospace & Engineering reports that it has developed a new transportable weighing system for aircraft at the Paderbom-Lippstadt airfield, which is capable of being calibrated. The weight of the aircraft can be determined, they inform us, precisely up to 100g using the system or, alternatively, in kilograms or pounds. The system comprises three weighing platforms for the undercarriage, a display device, drive-up ramps, rolling down safeguards and a power supply, and it is said to be easy to operate. A battery is integrated in the equipment, which makes it possible to use the equipment outside the workshop as well. The weighing system can be delivered in two versions: as the WS 20 for aircraft up to two tons maximum take-off weight and as the WS 57 to 5.7 tons MTOW.
