High accuracy linear height gauge

Keywords: Mitutoyo, Gauges

Mitutoyo's new LH 600B linear height gauge (Plate 3) provides 21 types of measurement including width, centre between two points, perpendicular and 2D measurement, supported by seven optional probes including the touch trigger type. Curved surfaces may also be scanned using the automatic constant pressure mechanism.

The LH 600B incorporates air bearings, powered by a built-in compressor for ultra-fine movement as well as power or manual drive for vertical movement. Measuring range is 972 mm with selectable resolution between 0.0001 mm and 0.1 mm coupled with an accuracy of 2 + L/600 mm.

A temperature compensation feature is said to allow measurements to be taken at different temperatures and also makes measurements with automatic compensation - for example moulds can be measured with built-in allowance for shrinkage.

Many standard features are included for ease of operation, including automatic positioning and a learn and repeat function to promote repeatability.

Readout is provided by a large, clear LCD display which incorporates graphical functions. An RS 232 interface provides an output for connection with an SPC system. Updating the machine is quick and easy. A 486 (33 MHz) CPU is standard allowing the latest version software to be installed by floppy disk or delivered via the Internet.
