SolidWorks Corporation, a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D CAD software for the mainstream market, reports that the cross-departmental StutCAD training center at the University of Stuttgart, has implemented 73 licences of SolidWorks software. The University is said to have selected SolidWorks for its ease-of-use, powerful functionality, and rapid learning curve.

Founded in 1992, the StutCAD training centre is used by the schools of Energy Technology, Construction and Production Engineering, Aeronautics and Space Engineering, and Process Engineering. Since mid-1992, more than 3,500 students and faculty members have been trained in a wide range of CAD systems at the training centre. The StutCAD centre also offers courses to assist in the training of professional designers from the local engineering community. In addition to its use in the student curriculum, SolidWorks will be one of the core software packages used in training industry professionals.

"Within a short period of time, SolidWorks has proven to be an easy-to-use CAD system", says Professor Dr-Ing. Gisbert Lechner, professor of engineering and director of StutCAD. "We are now able to offer our students well-established 3D training to meet their intermediate graduation requirements. SolidWorks has become an instrumental tool for students meeting core graduation requirements, as well as for preparing advanced research papers and theses."
