Within OEM and precision manufacturing industries there exists an ongoing need for the provision of highly accurate meshes, sieves, screens, nets and filtering parts across a wide spectrum of applications. Dorset-based Tecan believes its comprehensive range of specialised manufacturing technologies can produce cost-efficient bespoke products to satisfy virtually any requirement – including aerospace.
Products produced by the company can be simple or complex and contain holes of varying sizes and shapes, dependent on the end-user requirement. Using highly accurate photo-chemical machining or photo-electroforming, mesh membranes can be produced as flat sheets, as flexible membranes, or in three-dimensional forms.
According to Tecan, unlike traditional woven products, the single-sheet screens do not have cross-over areas. This is thought to bring a range of benefits, including the elimination of contamination due to trapped debris, no delamination at the edges, consistent cross-sectional thickness and consistently accurate aperture sizes. The screens are said to be extremely durable and can have various surface textures – such as bright, semi-bright, matt, smooth or brushed. The production techniques are reported to be so accurate that hole sizes can be as small as 6microns across – and there is no need for subsequent machining or polishing.
