Saab Ericsson Space is to supply extensive microwave electronics for the new Intelsat satellites, Intelsat-X, through subcontract with Astrium of Toulouse. The spacecraft are being built to provide telecommunications services over the Atlantic and will be located in the West Atlantic Ocean Region. They are the largest and most powerful satellites ever procured by Intelsat.
The contract with Astrium includes the responsibility for the development and construction of the satellites' receivers for the C and Ku bands and the order requires a total of 45 receivers to be delivered in 2001.
