Ultra Electronics, the UK based aerospace and defence electronics group, announces that Noise and Vibration Systems, part of its Air and Land Division, has been awarded a contract by Golden Air Flyg AB ("Golden Air") to supply the UltraQuiet Active Noise Control (ANC) system for retrofit to nine of its SAAB340 aircraft. Golden Air, based in Sweden, is the launch customer for this retrofit system. The contract, which converts an earlier letter of intent, includes the supply of ANC systems, spares, training and support and is worth over $750,000.

The retrofit system is being jointly developed by Ultra Electronics and Saab Aircraft AB. It will be supplied under the authority of a Saab Service Bulletin that is expected to be available by April 2001. All deliveries to Golden Air will be completed during 2001. The Service Bulletin will also include Ultra's new on-board propeller balance monitoring system.
