French company Ecrans Thermiques offers tailor-made solutions for high-performance thermal and acoustic protection. For over 20 years Ecrans Thermiques has supplied customised high temperature thermal insulation for mobile heat sources including aircraft. Made in the form of shells or sets of panels, which cover the hot parts to be protected, each assembly design has between two and more than 100 pieces.

These protective systems take the form of multi-layer sandwiches comprising an outer layer of metal foil (Plate 7). For the "lining", the main materials used are layers of glass fibre, ceramics, quartz or microporous insulating materials.

This original technology claims exceptional performance levels thanks to the reflective properties of the metal, an optimal choice of materials and assembly methods. With a thickness of only 10mm, a temperature drop of 500°C can reportedly be achieved. These protective systems are also said to be light-weight and long-lasting. They are also said to be capable of withstanding extreme conditions including vibration, corrosion and oxidation.
