DuPont Engineering Polymers reports the introduction of a new family of Vespel parts and shapes that can be injection moulded from melt processable polyimide resins. These injection mouldable TP resins will be supplied to DuPont Vespel by Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. Tokyo, and include several grades which were jointly developed to meet the specific needs of DuPont's customers. Parts produced from these resins are said to demonstrate improved temperature, chemical and wear resistance and are expected to provide a significant benefit to design engineers world-wide. DuPont will process and market these resins as Vespel TP parts and shapes.

"DuPont has marketed Vespelbrand parts and shapes for more than 30 years and has achieved significant acceptance of Vespel as the material of choice for designers seeking creative solutions to difficult design problems", said, Maurizio Solaro, business manager for Vespel in Europe.

"These new parts will significantly broaden the Vespel product line and will give designers an even greater choice of materials to meet their toughest challenges", said Solaro. "The geometric flexibility of injection-moulded polyimide parts are believed to allow engineers a significantly increased level of creative freedom to design new and unique mechanical assemblies with improved performance and lower cost".
