The new Mitutoyo RA2000 Series Roundtest (Plate 1) measuring machine is claimed to have the highest accuracy of any instrument in its class. Designed to provide a solution to many roundness measurement requirements, the RA2000 has a rotating accuracy of (0.02+6H/10,000)m and column straightness and parallelism values of 1.2 and 1.7m respectively.
Two versions of RA 2000 are available. The AH model provides an automatic centring/levering facility whilst this is a manual procedure with the DH version. In both cases, the tester's horizontal arm can traverse 25mm more past the table rotation centre. This is said to allow measurements of both internal and external features without having to change the measuring direction of the probe.

It is also said to be possible to program in any combination of probe movements and, once measured, data are logged in the tester's memory. Recalculations can then be performed on the measured data, changing parameters as required. Accompanying Roundpak measurement software will allow in-depth analysis of measurements to be carried out.
