In a joint venture, A J Walter Aviation and Avtrade Limited have purchased the A330-322 aircraft S/N E0068, formerly registered 9M-MKB) which was valued at $95m. A chemical spill in the rear cargo hold had damaged the structure. After extensive consideration Airbus Industrie declined to support the repair of the aircraft, so it was subsequently offered for sale.

A joint venture company, "A330 Spares Limited", has been set up to market the aircraft. "A J Walter Aviation and Avtrade have a combined trading history of almost 90 years" comments Christopher Whiteside, managing director of A J Walter. "Both company's extensive experience of stocking and supplying aircraft spare parts will be brought to the new venture. With our full 24-hour service – customers can take advantage of this complete range of A330 parts on a sale, exchange or loan basis, at a price level which is unprecedented in the industry due to the age of the A330 which has only entered service relatively recently. The other reason we were attracted to the deal is the 90 per cent commonality the A330 enjoys with the A340".

All spare parts will be removed and re-certified in accordance with CAA Notice 97. In all instances, spare parts will be offered with FAA 8130-3 and/or JAA Form1 documentation with back-to-birth traceability.
