Senior appointments strengthen Apollo's management team

Two senior appointments have brought new skills to the management team at Apollo, a major European supplier of specialist high- value materials. John Rae has been appointed as UK operations director and Rob Pelter as group human resources director, both are based at the company's headquarters in Birmingham, UK, and report directly to Mike Pilbeam, group chief Executive.

John, 50, joins Apollo from Alcoa, where he was employed as general manager across sites in Birmingham and North Wales. In this new role he is responsible for the cost and on-time delivery performance of all products shipped to the company's customers.

Rob, 30, has exceptional experience of HR issues gained through his previous role as head of HR at Spectrum, a division of logistics company Tibbett and Britten. He was previously responsible for up to 800 staff. In his role at Apollo he has responsibility for developing the management team and ensuring the company has the necessary HR policies and processes in place to allow the planned company growth.
