Ruggedised wiring analyser for hostile environments

Keywords: Equipment, Aerospace industry

Now available exclusively in the UK from the Peak Group is the RWA 1500 ruggedised wiring analyser from Cabletest Systems (Plate 8).

The new product is designed to meet the requirements of application sectors such as the military and aerospace that have a need for durability in test instrumentation.

RWA 1500 is stated to be specifically designed for use in harsh environments requiring shock resistance and totally weatherproof properties, and is capable of withstanding the rough treatment associated with field applications.

According to Peak the instrument is extremely easy to use. The company explains that field operator only has to open the case, switch on the power, and the RWA 1500 is ready to test immediately. Battery power is available for 12, 24, or 28 V DC testing, and an automatic air pressure equalisation valve is located outside the carrying case for use at high altitudes.

The RWA 1500 integrates 256 high-voltage test and measurement points, and is reportedly capable of withstanding a 60 cm drop and field-related vibrations.

With a weight of only 23 kg and portable dimensions of 58 x 46 x 33 cm, the analyser is thought to be ideally suited to one-person field operation.

The RWA 1500 is available in- configurations ranging from low voltage up to 1500 V DC or 1000 VAC. A 28 V DC, 1 A energisation source is also available. The analyser is said to meet all relevant military specification requirements, and has been assigned a test tool ID by the US Military.
