Pacific Aerospace LTD of New Zealand recently announced that Meggitt Avionics Systems' MAGIC Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) will be installed in the cockpit of its CT4 Trainer aircraft. integration of the system, which has been selected by a specific unnamed customer.
It is thought that the EFIS-equipped CT4s will be invaluable in the training of future air transport pilots since MAGIC'S EFIS displays airspeed, altitude, attitude, vertical speed, and magnetic heading, utilizing traditional coloration and symbology in the same way that jet transport flightdecks are configured today,
The total EFIS system weighs just 12 Ibs. The left seat EFIS is complemented with right seat traditional electro-mechanical discrete instruments. Its high reliability derives from completely solid state displays, while spinning mass gyroscopes are replaced with solid state Air Data Attitude and Heading Reference System (ADAHRS). Meggitt Avionics Systems EFIS is TSO approved.
