News from the AAU: University Aerospace Challenge

The AAU is pleased to announce that the organisers of the Schools Aerospace Challenge are extending their scheme to include encouragement for first year students studying aeronautical related subjects at all of the AAU member universities. To be known as the University Aerospace Challenge it will take the form of a Certificate together with a personal cheque for £100 and will be based on demonstrated keenness and determination to succeed, rather than academic ability.

Current AAU member universities are:

Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, Brunel, Cambridge, City (London), Coventry, DMU (Leicester), Farnborough, Glasgow, Hertfordshire, Imperial College, Kingston, Liverpool, London Guildhall, Nottingham, Oxford, Queen's (Belfast), Salford, Surrey, Swansea, UMIST (Manchester), UWE (Bristol).

Selection for the award

Every August, staff at each AAU member university will select one student who they feel deserves to be congratulated for the effort they have put into their first year studies and will notify the Schools Aerospace Challenge organisers of their choice.

The organisers will then send the Certificate and cheque direct to the nominated students.

The students will also receive an invitation to attend the annual Award ceremony of the Schools Aerospace Challenge for that year, held at the IMechE London in November, where full details of all the AAU University Aerospace Challenge award-winning students will also be announced.
