Instron Ltd its Dynatup 9250 Impact Tester

Keywords: Aerospace industry, Impact, Testing

Instron Ltd, a provider of testing equipment designed to evaluate mechanical properties of materials and components, announces the Dynatup 9250, an instrumented impact testing machine for evaluating impact damage behaviour of polymers, metals, composites and full components. It is thought to be ideally suited for the aerospace market (Plate 4).

The Dynatup 9250 claims complete computer control and impact velocities up to 22 m/sec for the most rigorous impact testing in the fields of quality control, and research and development. According to Instron the entire impact event can be captured, plotted and analysed to determine important data such as the ductile-to-brittle transition point, ductility, incipient damage, max load, and absorbed energy. The Dynatup 9250 is described as a robust machine designed to test materials in extreme temperatures and harsh environments. In addition, the Dynatup 9250 utilises Impulse, a complete software and electronics package designed for impact testing.
