Marshall on track with C-130 installations

Following the success of Marshall Aerospace's installation of the Smiths Aerospace EIDS (Engine Instrumentation Display System) on the RAF, SAAF & BAF C-130 fleets, the Spanish Air Force have contracted Marshall Aerospace to install the equipment in their 12 C-130s.

The EIDS units replace the existing 32 electromechanical instruments which are becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. Each EIDS unit interfaces with the sensors on two of the aircraft's engines, and clearly presents each engine's data.

Marshall Aerospace is designing and manufacturing the necessary modifications to remove the current instrumentation system and install two of the EIDS units into the bottom of the centre instrument panel. The resulting empty space at the top of the panel is being used to relocate three standby instruments, which currently reside on top of the glareshield. The modification will greatly improve the cockpits layout, increase maintainability and ease the reading of the engine instrumentation.
