Jernas boosts Radamec's exports
Keywords: Electronics, Defence, Radamec defence systems
Malaysia's recent selection of the MBDA Jernas Short-Range Air Defence (SHORAD) system has led to a £2.3million ($3.33m) contract for Radamec Defence Systems. Radamec will supply the Electro-Optical (E-O) tracking platform and servo electronics that are key elements in Jernas.
Radamec believes that the Royal Malaysian Army's lead in opting for Jernas may well stimulate demand with other countries who require a new air defence system or an upgrade to the latest standard from operators of the earlier Rapier systems that do not have an E-O facility.
Radamec's expertise in E-O technology has also led to its selection as a teaming partner with the LFK division of EADS on a Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS). It is also a partner with Alenia Marconi Systems (AMS) in a bid to provide an Efectro-Optical Gun Control System (EOGCS) for the Royal Navy's new Type 45 destroyer.
