First aircraft brake manufacturing plant order

First aircraft brake manufacturing plant order

Surface Transforms plc, the maker of high technology carbon ceramic products, has received an order to supply a manufacturing plant and equipment from its aircraft brake partner, a leading aerospace brake equipment provider. The order for the purchase of plant and materials is worth around £90,000, of which half is payable immediately with the balance due on completion of the plant and supply of treated materials in around 3 months. The announcement of the order is aprecursor to a potentially more comprehensive licensing agreement which is currently under negotiation and which will define how Surface Transforms receives royalties from the manufacture of brake discs.

The new plant will be used to manufacture materials for the aircraft market and will be able to accommodate the manufacture of discs for very large aircraft. The carbon-based aircraft braking materials market is estimated to be worth in excess of £625m a year.

Initially the plant will be housed at Surface Transforms’s manufacturing base in Cheshire, UK and upon successful completion of the licensing agreement and test programme the plant will be transferred to the premises of its aircraft brake partner.
