Dunlop Equipment Retimet technology breakthrough on GE’s 90/115 engine

Dunlop Equipment has provided production standard Retimet air/oil separators for the GE90–115B that will power the latest versions of Boeing777.

Dunlop Equipment’s Retimet air/oil separators incorporate reticulated metal foam materials to remove oil from exhaust air. In the case of the GE90-115B, the unit is fitted to the engine’s main shaft and is used to collect oil lubricating the main bearings and return it to the oil reservoir, making a substantial contribution to environmental performance. GE’s decision to adopt the DE Retimet air/oil separator followed engine system testing which demonstrated significant performance benefits. The decision was also supported by Dunlop Equipment’s adoption of Six-Sigma, a project-based programme much favoured by GE, that brings together specialists in all disciplines within the company to improve overall manufacturing and commercial performance.
