High-performance 100 A switch/CBE providing status indication

Keywords: Equipment, Aerospace

E-T-A is offering a modified version of one of its combined switch/circuit breakers for equipment (CBES) to offer, what is believed to be, the only high-performance 100 A CBE with an auxiliary contact providing status information (Plate 5).

Plate 5 E-T-A offers unique high-performance 100 A switch/CBE providing status indication

The new E-T-A 452 is described as a heavy duty, combined push/pull switch and circuit breaker with a thermal-magnetic tripping mechanism for thread-neck, panel mounting in low voltage applications. The addition of an auxiliary contact to the standard model offers the user a low current, status indicator signal. The standard E-T-A 452 is used widely to populate flight decks of aircraft, and for other high-performance applications including telecommunications and process control. The new CBE is available in a range of current protection values from 50 A up to 100 A.

The E-T-A 452 CBEs claims a tease-free, trip-free, snap-action mechanism ideal for applications requiring reliable, rugged performance particularly when subject to vibrations. As with all E-T-A thermal-magnetic CBES, an internal solenoid provides rapid cut off in the event of short-pulse high current overloads, and the bi-metal thermal cut-out in series with this solenoid, responds to prolonged low value overloads.
