SciSys appoints Philip James to drive advanced software technologies into defence sector

SciSys Plc (AIM: CSY) – formerly Science Systems Plc – a leading global provider of ICT services and advanced technology solutions, has appointed Philip James as business development executive. Philip will drive SciSys advanced software technology into the defence sector, targeting the growing requirement for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) programmes. One key area of focus will be avionics, where customers will be able to benefit from SciSys "lights out" space satellite control technology to power unmanned aircraft, increasingly needed for information-gathering missions.

Philip brings almost 20 years expertise in the space defence sector to his new role. He joins SciSys from SEA where he spent 6 years developing space, defence and industrial business. Philip spent 6 years during the 1980s working at the German Space Operations Centre outside Munich where he wrote command systems for German satellites, notably the Röntgen Satellite X-ray observatory. His career started at British Aerospace where he worked for 6 years writing software for air defence missile systems, including Raper Laserfire.
