The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract with FLS Aerospace for Component Repair for their Sentry AEW Mk1 aircraft. Under this contract FLSA will repair components from a diverse range of areas including Avionics, Hydraulics, Mechanical, Aircraft Structures and Wheels and Brakes etc. The contract, which is valued in excess of GB£1 million, will run for a period of 3 years with an option to possibly extend for a further 2 years and covers seven aircraft.
The Sentry AEW Mk1 aircraft are used for surveillance operations and are basically a B707 modified with a large radar and communications suite that provides the horizon with an early warning. They are also used in a command and control role (AWACS) in support of NATO operations anywhere in the world.
