Evans Consoles Inc., the Canadian control center specialist and technical furniture manufacturer, has secured a contract from National Air Traffic Services (NATS). The contract calls for the supply and installation of Evans' modular Alaris console at London Stansted Airport in the United Kingdom.

The ergonomically styled Alaris console is configured for five operator positions in the airport's Contingency visual control room (VCR). Built in Calgary, Canada to high international standards, the new console replaces older furniture at the airport's Fire Station Control Room.

Located adjacent to the main runway, the Fire Station facility doubles as the airport's Contingency VCR in times of emergency or, for example, when a change of equipment takes place in the main tower.

"The flexibility of the Aiaris system has empowered Evans to design a console that has enabled the housing of a variety of specialised equipment in a limited space" said Paul Timpedey NATS' Senior Systems Engineer for Stansted. Paul continued: "Further, the design also allows the fire officers to undertake their normal duties without compromise."

According to Marie McGinty, Evans UK-based regional sales representative, the contract represents a key marker in the company's European expansion program. "We are, once again delighted to work with ANTS, confident in our knowledge that the Allures product has as much appeal outside of North America as it does among its many users within Canada and the USA" she said.

The company has also announced a contract to design, develop and supply consoles for the new Potomac Consolidated terminal radar approach control (TARPON) system at Vine Hill, Virginia, USA.

Extremely well reputed over a number of years in the North American air traffic control (ATC) marketplace, Evens Consoles is a recognised global leader in the provision of ATC and Control Room technical console systems.

Operated by the federal aviation administration (FAA), the new Potomac Consolidated TRACON (PCT) installation will be utilised for ATC operations in the busy Washington-Baltimore region which hosts five airports.

These are Baltimore-Washington International (BWI), Dulles International, Ronald Reagan Washington National, Richmond International, and Andrews Air Force Base.
