DirecTV to Challenger 601 Operators

A proprietary supplemental type certificate (STC) has been awarded to Montreal's Innotech Aviation for Bombardier Challenger 601 business jets, to provide DirecTVTM service in the aircraft cabin through a Honeywell AIS-1000 OneVieW TV system. This certification follows a similar STC gained last year for the Challenger 604. The first application of this newest STC is for an American client and incorporates a North American transmission uplink. The system provides four independent input signals, and one DVD and Airshow channel, and can be routed to various locations in the passenger cabin and cockpit.

Innotech also developed and certified its own vertical stabiliser-mounted radome for the Honeywell antenna.

In related activity, Innotech has installed a Honeywell HS-700 high speed data link (64 kb/s) in a US customer's Global Express long-range business jet. TMs is an upgrade from the HS-600 installed at the factory and saves nearly 20 lb installed. There is full provision in this new installation for a second, HS-702 unit which will deliver data at 128 kb/s, and which incorporates an integral power amplifier. This additional approval is expected by early 2004. The STC is the latest in hundreds awarded to Innotech since it became involved with the Challenger program at its inception in 1979.

The experience Innotech has with the Global Express fleet now exceeds 250,000 labour hours, the highest anywhere for an independent facility. Modifications, interior refurbishment and avionics compare with the factory for direct post-production involvement with the Global Express fleet.

The company is the most experienced Global Express/Challenger and Hawker maintenance, overhaul and refurbishment center in the world, having been involved with each program from the beginning.

Innotech-Execaire specialises in large and medium business jets and is the authorised service center for Global Express, Challenger, Hawker, Citation and King Air, as well as most major avionics and engine manufacturers. Heavy maintenance, repair, non-destructive testing and custom interior refurbishment are the mainstays of the company since 1955.
