The Central JAA (CJAA) and a number of internationally recognised organisations involved in aviation safety, recently finalised the set up of a European Aviation Safety Training Organisation (EASTO).

EASTO aims to become one of Europe's leading aviation safety training centres.

By offering a full range of courses in the aviation safety legislatio that are established primarily in the EASA framework, EASTO is prepared to act as an EASA training centre.

The EASA training program will start as soon as EASA has published its syllabi, most probably at the beginning of Summer 2006.

The parties subject to the EASTO- consortium are as follows: JAA, the International Institute of Air and Space of the University of Leiden, the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR), The Netherlands Aviation College (NLC) and ADSE Consulting and Engineering.

The Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, represented by the Directorate of Civil Aviation and Freight Transport fully supports this initiative to set up EASTO and believes that EASTO will reinforce the present high levels of civil aviation services in The Netherlands. The Ministry has accepted Honorary Board membership of EASTO.

The management, secretariat and training location of EASTO will be at the JAA Training Office, located in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands.
