HBM extends Y series of strain gages

Keywords: Equipment

HBM has extended its existing range of Y series of strain gages with four new geometries. The Y series strain gages are made from flexible polyimide carrier material with constantan measuring grids and are designed to robust and easy-to- handle for experimental stress analysis applications.

The LY7x linear strain gage has been developed especially for use in material testing applications. The integrated, laterally arranged connection points substantially facilitate installation and wiring compared with previous strain gages. In material testing machines that often offer only little space, the laterally arranged wiring can be quickly connected to save time.

The XY7x T-rosette is frequently connected in a half or full bridge and integrated into the Wheatstone bridge circuit. It is delivered with both measuring grids already electrically connected at one point saving the user connection work and installation time.

The Y series also includes two new strain gage chains with integrated solder terminals for determining a strain gradient.

The KY8x strain gage chain features ten measuring grids and one compensating strain gage in parallel to the chain axis while the KY9x strain gage chain has ten measuring grids and one compensating strain gage vertical to the chain axis.

The Y series of strain gage chains shorten the installation time substantially compared with equivalent strain gage chains with leads that require the fitting of additional solder terminals.
