New system of welding tables cut labor cost

New system of welding tables cut labor cost

Available now for the first time in the UK is the novel, modular S4 System of welding tables newly-launched by Birmingham-based, surface technology products, under a sole agency agreement with the Siegmund Group, Germany.

Used mainly as welding tables, other workshop applications include multi- clamping assemblies, measuring, monitoring, fixture construction, bending and folding.

Shorter working time thanks to an ingenious rapid clamping system.

The heart of the 84 system is the universal ball bolt. Its carefully thought out mechanical design enables it to be fixed reliably in any place with one hand in a second or so, thereby greatly reducing setting up or changeover times. Comparative tests with conventional work tables and screw clamps reportedly showed a potential saving in working time of up to 40 per cent, which is an important competitive advantage in countries with high labor costs.

Bernd Siegmund confidently asserts: this quick clamping system will establish itself in the coming years as a worldwide market leader, especially so because the range of applications has not yet been fully realised.” With more than 100 additional tools, the 84 system is the ideal equipment for the manufacture of individual welded parts and prototypes for both single and series productions, either for manual and/or robotic applications.

Manufacturing tolerance is to 0.03mm which is important for hole spacings as in fixture construction. The use of high quality steels guarantees long life and a high degree of dimensional precision even after many years.

Versions of the 84 tables are available in various materials: steel, cast iron or stainless steel. As a special highlight, Siegmund is the only manufacturer to offer a table made of HARDOX, an extremely strong steel from which, for example, digger shovels are manufactured. The material is well- known for its sensational properties of extraordinary flatness, uniform surface quality and great resistance to wear. It is also very resistant to weld spatter.

The latest addition to welding table surfaces are plasma-nitrided coatings which harden the surface to approximately 550 Vickers, which offers optimal resistance to weld spatter, scratching and corrosion.

Modular system offers many possibilities from two basic versions.

The S4 System tables are offered in two basic versions: with 16mm holes and a 50mm grid, and with 28mm holes and a 100mm grid.

The modular concept makes possible a production line to virtually any length required with the wide range of accessories enabling the system to be adapted to the most varied demands.
