End-to-end tool grinding

Walter's Helitronic Basic entry-level tool grinder available from Korber Schleifring UK of Honiley near Kenitworth is said to provide users with a route for cost-effective 5-axis tool regrinding at a budget price, and completes Walter's portfolio of tool grinders to meet every need in terms of output, capacity and budget.

The Helitronic Basic is designed to accommodate tools of up to 320mm diameter by 350mm long.

Based on similar high-quality construction principles to Walter's existing Helitronic models and incorporating the company's renowned tool grinding software, the new machine is a derivative of the Helitronic Power and features CMC and drive hardware from Fanuc.

With Fanuc 310i CMC and 15in. touch screen monitor, the machine has a 70mm grinding spindle powered by 7kW drive plus worm gear drive in the A axis.

As standard it is supplied with Walter Window Mode P1 and P3 grinding programs (end mills and drills), and options include coolant tank, Eco tool loading system, automatic clamping and worktable (Figure 8).
