Moog PCS, a world-wide provider of high-performance aerospace test equipment and a part of Moog Inc., has secured a contract to provide Airbus with multi-channel digital servo control system requirements for all of the Airbus ground-based testing facilities until at least 2016. Moog PCS will be the sole source to Airbus for multichannel digital servo control systems, providing Airbus with the benefits of a single platform across all of its structural testing facilities in Germany, UK, France and Spain. Under the agreement, initial system deliveries have commenced and will run until May 2016.

Building on a base of proven performance at the Airbus Filton facility in the UK, Moog (formally PCS Control Systems before the purchase by Moog in August 2005) has supplied systems for the last seven years. A solid track record, system performance and service coupled with new innovations for faster and more accurate testing helped Moog PCS win this prestigious project over the competition from USA and Europe.

Airbus, which currently uses a range of systems across its facilities, including its own systems developed in-house, chose to partner with Moog PCS for this long- term decision. Karlheinz Stupperich, Airbus' head of Control Systems and Data Acquisition, Structural Test, said: “We decided to select one partner for new control systems to profit from a transnational harmonization in this area. We finally selected Moog PCS not only on technical, but also on commercial aspects. We have had good experience with Moog PCS on products, service and their ability to collaborate on a joint project for increasing the speed of testing.”

The drive to move to a single platform was prompted by the extensive testing schedules Airbus faces with developments on A380, A400M and A350, in quick succession. The implementation of a single supplier across the Airbus testing facilities in Europe will lead to greater efficiency and flexibility to meet the various program demands.

Pirn van den Dijssel, business manager Aerospace Test Systems at Moog PCS in Amsterdam said, “We are delighted to have been selected by Airbus, one of the world's leading Aircraft suppliers, to be their partner for all of their control system needs. It is proof of their confidence in our system, the Moog PCS support, market leading performance and the value of our SmarTEST product family.”
