Aircraft de-icing on ground for all Airbus aircraft

Airbus has given its approval for the use of new infrared facilities for aircraft de- icing on ground for all Airbus aircraft. This method significantly reduces the use of de-icing fluids by melting the snow and ice on all the aircraft surfaces simultaneously using a technology based on infrared heaters that has been adapted for aircraft de-icing applications.

Developed by Radiant Aviation Services, Inc. the new infrared de-icing facilities are currently in service at Newark and JFK in the USA and are in the final testing phase, before entering into service at Oslo airport, Norway.
