Theorem Solutions recently demonstrated its latest range of software products at the UGS Connection Americas 2007 Users Conference.

At the heart of the company's presentation was its innovative Theorem Process Manager (TPM) application, which enables users to save time and money through the automation, control and management of their computing processes.

The new software is not only applicable to customers in Theorem's traditional design and manufacturing market, but also provides major benefits to IT and data processing users across a wide range of industry sectors.

TPM enables complex batch operations to be initiated by a simple “drag and drop” action that can execute programs, evaluate results and both collect or distribute files. It is said to be ideal for running and scheduling a variety of processes and can be easily configured to apply predetermined actions based on the outcome of each program.

Also on show at Long Beach was Theorem's new Universal CATIA translator for UGNX users, which both streamlines and simplifies data translation and collaborative working under “real world” conditions – by automatically differentiating between CATIA V5 and V4 data files and converting them to UGNX in a single operation.

CATIA and UGNX are widely employed in many long-term design projects and it is not unusual for design and manufacturing companies to use both CATIA V4 and CATIA V5 on production work. Other supply chain partners may operate UGNX – resulting in collaborative projects that can involve a mix of two CATIA file formats as well as UGNX data. A further complication is that CATIA V5 assemblies may incorporate embedded CATIA V4 files; a fact that might not become apparent until there is a need to undertake data translation.

Providing a complete solution within a single product, Theorem's Universal CATIA to UGNX CADverter is said to eliminate the need for users to determine which version of CATIA the target data is supplied in. It not only identifies and converts mixed native CATIA V5 and V4 files automatically, but also recognises and translates CATIA V5 assemblies that include embedded V4 data – all without operator input.

Because most single version translators are unable to accommodate such shared format assemblies, Theorem's new Universal CATIA CADverter claims to exceed the capabilities of separate products – as even a combination of stand-alone V5 and V4 translators will fail to meet all user requirements.

Theorem's presentation at UGS Connection Americas 2007 Users Conference also feature its brand new “Multi-CAD” module, which enables UGNX data to be imported directly into users' current CATIA V5 sessions.

Streamlining the sharing and use of non-CATIA data within design, manufacturing, design-in -context and visualisation environments, the new module replicates the ability of CATIA's “insert existing component” command to bring CATParts and CATproducts into the current CATIA V5 space and work with them.

Using Theorem's new “Multi-CAD” module, CATIA V5 users can simply “insert” UGNX data into the current workspace without the need to undertake an external CAD translation. The process is simply a “menu pick” followed by the selection of the required part or assembly from a normal file system “tree”.

Items inserted into CATIA V5 in this way are said to maintain links to the original data, ensuring that any subsequent modifications to the UGNX part or assembly will be automatically updated in the CATIA V5 session.

Other Theorem Products on show at the Long Beach event included the company's Data eXchange Navigator (DXN) and comprehensive range of CADverter data exchange applications which provide enhanced communications and interoperability between CAD systems.
