Ravindranath Ramroop winner of the 2007 IFA Scholarship Award
Mr Ron Yates, IFA Scholarship Administrator reports that this year's scholarship was hard fought with 11 excellent entries being received covering all corners of the globe. Mr Yates said “it is a great shame that we can only offer the one scholarship, the final decision made by the IFA Executive Council members was very difficult and much time was taken on deliberating before the final decision was made. We were very pleased that Mr Ramroop was awarded the scholarship.”
Mr Jacques Gentil the Air Mauritius IFA representative who nominated Mr Ramroop upon hearing of the success of the nomination advised “We are very pleased that Ravind has been selected.”
Mr Ramroop's award was to attend the UK CAA Airworthiness Course which took place at Gatwick Airport in October 2007. The three week course enabled Mr Ramroop to broaden his knowledge on airworthiness requirements and safety regulation as well as assist to improve Air Mauritius compliance with existing and new airworthiness requirements and also apply best practices.
Mr Ramroop holds a Diploma in Quality Management and has 19 years experience in Aviation Maintenance. Starting as an Aircraft Mechanic he has moved through certification and MCC Controller to work in the Quality Assurance Department first as an Inspector and currently as Quality Manager responsible for the Quality System of the Air Mauritius PART 145 Maintenance Organization and the Operator's Maintenance system.
